Mudryk Golf Classic Scholarships
In
2009, the Bryan Mudryk Golf Classic tournament launched
a special scholarship for those who are fighting cancer
while continuing their post-secondary education.
In conjunction with the Cross Cancer Institute, from now
on, every year a handful of students will receive a scholarship
towards their education as they undergo treatments at
the hospital.
The
donations for the Scholarship program are separate
and above and beyond the donation process for Cross
Cancer patients and equipment.
This
year, three BRYAN MUDRYK SCHOLARSHIPS will be presented
to qualified post grad students who are attending
school in studies while battling cancer or in check-ups.
To
be considerd for one of these Scholarships, all
candidates must provide us with the following:
1)
written confirmation that the candidate is currently
enrolled in a post-secondary (i.e. – university/college,
NAIT) class or has been accepted into an upcoming
class.
2)
have the candidate provide a hand-written short
story explaining how this scholarship will make
a difference in their life. Include:
information
around their condition – how they discovered
they had cancer, what type of cancer they have,
the treatments they are going through, their
prognosis,
what
were their dreams & goals prior to their
battle, and how have those dreams & goals
changed; what are their goals for the future,
what
is their support system? Most memorable moment?
(i.e. – a phone call, someone reaching
out to you)
what
was their attitude toward this journey –
where they are now, what advice would they give
to others facing a similar battle with this
disease; how has this inspired you to help others
and in what way? (charities, hospitals, care
centres, be a spokesperson)
2012
Recipients - Congratulations!
In
2012 we had 3 Scholarship recipients, each
being awarded $1000. They are:

But
with this being our 10th Anniversary, we also
added one more special recipient, selecting
Gareth Wheeler, who received
the fourth $1000 Scholarship.

Also
at the banquet, we were very fortunate to
have 2011 Scholarship recipient Kali
Cousins as our Event Guest Speaker.
She spoke very candidly about her experiences,
her battle, and her recovery. Such a courageous
young woman... the very best of luck to you,
Kali - you have an extremely bright future!!
For
2013 we have another three $1000 Scholarships to
award.
The deadline for all submissions is June 1, 2013.
All submissions must be sent to Tammie
Yuhar at the Cross Cancer Institute for confirmation,
prior to review and consideration by our Scholarship
Panel.
Each
successful recipient will be notified by June 5,
2013. They will receive 2 complimentary dinner
tickets
to the Bryan Mudryk Golf Classic on June 15, 2013
(a $100 value)
where Bryan will present them with their Scholarship
Award.
(note:
attendance is optional and the wishes of each recipient
will be respected. Alternate arrangements will
then be made for presenting them a cheque)
