Mike Czaja – Racing for a Cause

Pledge Legends Car Driver #83

Mike Czaja is no stranger to collecting pledges for cancer. He participated in an exhausting 48 hour Bikathon with hundreds of other Bellerose Composite High School students a few weeks ago that raised over $110,000 for Cancer research!

Coming up with a cure for cancer has been close to Czaja’s heart since being a very young child. His grandfather, Michael Keogh (Mike’s namesake), passed away from cancer in 1991; the same year Czaja was born. His uncle, Tim Crowley also suddenly passed away from cancer four years later.

“I’ve also lost a close friend to cancer this last year and really want to help end this terrible disease. On a positive note, my aunt Phyllis Crowley won her fight against stage 4 cancer a few years ago and is doing great! I know cancer can be beat.” says Czaja.

One of Alberta's rising stars

Mike Czaja is truly one of Alberta's rising stars in the stock car Legends of Alberta Race Car series. After entering the sport of kart racing in 2003, Czaja had progressed through the ranks of several different karting divisions with countless podium finishes and wins. In 2007,while still in high school at Bellerrose Composite in St.Albert, he became the youngest champion ever in the Alberta Senior Rotax karting division. He continued his successes in 2008 and eventually was asked to take on a new challenge: stock car racing. In his rookie season in 2009, Czaja completed his first stock car racing season by placing as one of the top 3 drivers in two separate Championships. He is expected to be a solid contender for both the EIR Northern Alberta and the Mac's Cup Chase Series Championship titles in 2010!
